(Sonoma Coast)
Ellenbach Vineyard is extremely special to us. This vineyard sits just above the fog layer, just two miles in from the Pacific Ocean in the far northwestern corner of the Sonoma Coast Appellation. This gives you some idea of the rocky and unforgiving environment in which these hillside planted vines reside. Alluvial sandstone combined with very little water availability and classic clonal selections provide striking focus and intensity in the vineyard. Beautiful deep garnet red and violet color are abundant in the glass. The elegant nose displays a multilayered brilliance, mingling gamey, fruit-forward aromas with hints of pancetta, liquorice, apple-skin and red summer berries. The palate continues on with notes of red alpine strawberries, fresh summer raspberries, and bay leaf. The finish is remarkable, combining incredible structure and elegance only found in cool climate Pinot Noir wines from this particular area.
